Changed up the icons a bit since the first of the month. The wallpapers are still on a rotation of about 30 HD natural images however. Most, if not all from interface lift. =)

Anyone know why worldcommunitygrid.org still has v17 for download on their site when v58 is the newest version from Berkeley?
Before I dl v58, I just want to make sure that there is no technical reason why I would have to use v17 to participate in World Community Grid.

When you take forever to get the phone on VZW you should expect people to take their time switching.
First, you've let Android have all that time to get a following because it's the only alternative for the lack of an iPhone. Those people have also bought apps that they now enjoy and would have to re-purchase on the iPhone. This happens with video game systems as well.
Second, people are in 2yr contracts. There are very few people who are willing to pay more for a phone they can buy 4 months later at half price on top of the termination fee.
Third, not that many people hate AT&T it's just the handful of VZW fans that make it look that way.
And finally you have the reporting and reviews. All the reports I saw were telling VZW people and potential switchers to hold off on getting the iPhone 4. No 4G, no white and still had the questionable signal issues. The "iPhone 5" was supposed to come out mid to late summer so people were concerned Apple would sell them a phone and then jump up 6 months later with the newer, thiner, better version and leave folks hanging.
People are paying attention to these reports and that's why I feel the numbers were low.

Wow, $25 an hour sounds very reasonable to me. Is that really the going rate for graphic design or is that the "just getting started in design" rate? Anyway, hope it works out for you. Sometimes the difficult clients can provide the most rewarding work, but the psycho ones are seldom worth the effort.

I have only been folding with my GPUs since folding the CPU puts off way too much heat. Im hoping to have my air conditioning hooked up soon, it's all free since I work in the sheet metal/hvac trade :p
Hmm... I would have guessed that GPUs (not to mention 4:eek:;)) put off a lot more heat and power usage than a CPU at 100%.

It's sad to see an "old timer" leave Apple, but I'm guessing that Serlet's financially set and wants to do some "pure" research at a university before he retires. Not everyone has that luxury.
It seems that OS X will be left in good hands, though.
I read somewhere he's perhaps not happy that iOS is gaining more influence over OS X. Certainly possible imo.

Does anyone have any experience/recommendations for binding a NAS to Open Directory for user/group authentication? A number of NAS will authenicate to Active Directory, but apparently OS X Server's Windows support is well below par to support this. QNAP have a firmware update expected July/August which will inbclude wider LDAP support, but is there anything that will work now?

I have heard of the 2TB limit per drive before. I cannot confirm this 100% though as all my drives are less than 2TB. I have 3.5 TB total but it consists of 3x 1TB and 1x 500GB.
I think 2TB drives are a great option for you. They can be had for as little as 75-80 each these days and 4 of them would give you 8TB in your file server. Not too shabby.
I myself plan to buy a couple 2TB drives soon as I am running out of space even with 3.5 TB.
Yeah 2Tb are the way forward for me but I would have liked some 3Tb drives in the future as my 1.5Tb drives only have about 100Gb left. One is my iTunes and the other is its backup. I'll have to look into raid setups to see if I can expand the size that way. Never mind though.
I'm wondering how many drives I can get into the space where the CD drive cage is? I know its deep enough as there is a cage with 2 underneath it. I reckon about 4-5 drives.
In the meantime I bought a little gizmo so I can put 2x 2.5 inch drives in 1 5.25 space. Will make one the system drive and the other its time machine so I can use the 4 main caddies for 3.5 inch drives. might do the same above and use a firewire dvd drive.
I'm chasing as 2 Sata port card as well :D

I've installed two or three versions of Sidetrack on my Powerbook now and have been using Sidetrack for about a year and have never had a singele problem. It's been such a staple that it's irritating when I use another laptop, much like Quicksilver - heck I even try to open Quicksilver using Quicksilver when I have to restart it! :p - so give it a go. I'm sorry to hear that another user had problems but it's been nothing less than perfect for me and the hot corners are great! :)
haha i do the same thing with quicksilver and then get annoyed at the thought of having to go poke around in my applications folder.
i've also never had any problems using sidetrack. i think it is fantastic, it makes my trackpad better than a mouse with a scroll wheel in my mind :)

Guessing that MobileMe (as it is now) will go free, and then the premium service will allow backup and access to all your system. $100 a year for that would definitely be worth it.

Top left corner of GPU looks burnt to me. Maybe it's bad picture quality, but if it's burnt really (what makes it DOA), it may explain why thermal paste is baked on.

Civil court judges have much more freedom to interpret law (and intent) than criminal.

I believe the .Mac iDisk only supports WebDAV.
